North Eastern City Of Syria Bombed By IS Leaving Dozens Dead

Forty-four people have been killed in a massive bombing in the Kurdish-controlled city of Qamishli in north-east Syria, Syrian state TV reports.

The blast was caused by a truck bomb which struck near a Kurdish security headquarters, according to a UK-based monitoring group.

So-called Islamic State (IS) has said it was behind the attack, in Hassakeh province, near the border with Turkey. IS has previously carried out bombings against Kurds in the area.

Second Suspect In French Priest Attack Revealed

French prosecutors have identified the second man involved in the killing of a priest in a Normandy church on Tuesday as 19-year-old Abdel Malik Petitjean.

Like the other attacker, Adel Kermiche, he was known to the security services. The teenagers were shot dead by police outside the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray where they had killed Father Jacques Hamel, 86, and taken hostages.

French Priest Killed By Armed Men In Rouen

A priest has been killed in an attack by two armed men at his church in a suburb of Rouen in northern France.

The attackers entered the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray during Mass, taking the priest, Fr Jacques Hamel, 84, and four other people hostage.

Police later surrounded the church and French TV said shots were fired. Both hostage-takers are now dead. President Francois Hollande said the men claimed to be from so-called Islamic State (IS). Speaking in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, he said the attackers had committed a "cowardly assassination" and France would fight IS "by all means".

Nineteen People Killed At Care Home In Japan

Nineteen residents have been killed in a knife attack at a care centre for people with mental disabilities in the Japanese city of Sagamihara.

Such attacks are extremely rare in Japan - the incident is the worst mass killing in decades.

Police have arrested a man who worked at the centre until February, and who turned himself into police after the attack. He reportedly said he wanted people with disabilities to "disappear".

Surrey Pool Party Leaves One Dead & Two Injured

One man has been killed and two people injured in a shooting at a pool party in Surrey.

The man in his 30s was found with a gunshot wound at an address in Headley, near Epsom, shortly after 02:30 BST, police said. A woman was shot in the leg and taken to hospital while another man was treated for minor shoulder wounds.

Police said the victims had been visitors at a large party at a house in the village.

Bomber In Ansbach Pledged Allegiance To Leader Of IS

A video showing the Syrian man who blew himself up in Ansbach, Germany, on Sunday pledging allegiance to the leader of so-called Islamic State has been found on his phone, says Bavaria's interior minister.

Joachim Hermann says two phones, multiple SIM cards and a laptop were found with the body of the 27-year-old asylum seeker or at his accommodation. The man threatened a "revenge attack" on Germans in the video, he said.

Fifteen people were injured.

Germany:Syrian Asylum Seeker Kills Woman In Machete Attack

A machete attack by a Syrian asylum seeker has left one woman dead and two other people injured in Reutlingen, near Stuttgart.

Police said the attack happened after an argument developed between the man and the 45-year-old Polish woman. Police said there was no indication that it was terrorist attack and it was more likely to have been "a crime of passion".

The incident comes amid tension after other bloody events in the past week.

16 Year Old Afghan Friend Of Munich Gunman Arrested

Police in Munich say they have arrested a 16-year-old Afghan friend of David Ali Sonboly, who killed nine people at a Munich shopping centre on Friday.

They say the teenager met the gunman shortly before the attack, knew Sonboly had a gun and knew that the gunman was interested in Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik.

Sonboly, 18, had been planning his attack for a year, police said earlier. They say he had a Glock pistol which he may have bought on the "dark net".

Donald Trump has vowed to tackle multiple threats facing the US, in his speech in Cleveland, Ohio accepting the Republican presidential nomination.

"The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end," he told the party convention. The businessman promised his presidency would usher in a new era putting America and ordinary people first.

Mr Trump's nomination has been clouded by the refusal of major party figures like Senator Ted Cruz to endorse him. Mr Cruz, who was his bitter rival during the primary contests, was booed off the stage by Trump supporters.

Suspicious Incident Reported Near Bulford Army Base

Armed officers and a police helicopter were scrambled to an Army base after three people were reportedly seen with a rifle nearby.

Police were called to the "suspicious incident" near Bulford Camp, Wiltshire, at 17:00 BST on Thursday. The area around the barracks, on the Salisbury Plain, was searched but no suspects were located.

Mayor of Tidworth, Chris Franklin, said there would be a "harder presence" at the camp's gates in light of the alert.
