Labour Leader Speaks Out About Syria Action
The UK government is "waiting for instructions" from Donald Trump about whether to launch a missile strike on Syria, Jeremy Corbyn has said.
The Labour leader spoke out after Cabinet ministers agreed "on the need to take action" in Syria to "deter the further use of chemical weapons".
Ministers said it was "highly likely" the Assad regime was responsible for a suspected chemical attack. But Mr Corbyn said military action was unlikely to solve the situation.

Gang Arrests Made In London
Eight police raids across west London have struck a "massive blow to an established gang", the Metropolitan Police said.
A submachine gun, ammunition, cash and suspected Class A drugs were seized in the raids in Northolt, Greenford, Fulham and Brentford.
Nine people - including a 14-year-old boy - have been held on suspicion of drug and firearms offences.
Det Insp Driss Hayoukane claimed the "MDP" gang had "corrupted children".

UK Cyber Operations Hinder IS
The UK has conducted a "major offensive cyber-campaign" against the Islamic State group, the director of the intelligence agency GCHQ has revealed.
The operation hindered the group's ability to co-ordinate attacks and suppressed their propaganda, former MI5 agent Jeremy Fleming said. It is the first time the UK has systematically degraded an adversary's online efforts in a military campaign.

President Trump Warns Syria In His Twitter Feed
US President Donald Trump has tweeted that Russia should "get ready" for missiles to be fired at its ally Syria, in response to an alleged chemical attack near Damascus on Saturday.
"Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'" Mr Trump said in his tweet.
Senior Russian figures have threatened to meet any US strikes with a response.
President Bashar al-Assad's government denies mounting a chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma.
In one his tweets on Wednesday, Mr Trump called the Syrian leader a "gas killing animal".

Manchester To Open New GCHQ Base
Intelligence agency GCHQ is to open a new Manchester base to put the city at the "heart of the nation's security".
GCHQ said hundreds of new jobs would be created when the new centre opens in 2019. It will work with MI5 and MI6 to fight terrorism, global threats and organised crime, "using cutting-edge technology".
Director Jeremy Fleming said: "Our new facility will open up a huge new pool of talented, tech savvy recruits vital to our future success."
Mr Fleming said GCHQ had drawn "strength" from the "resilience" of Manchester after the Arena bombing that killed 22 people.

20th Anniversary Of The Good Friday Agreement Attended By Bill Clinton
Former US president Bill Clinton is expected in Northern Ireland to mark the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
A conference will feature key players involved in the deal including ex prime ministers Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern.
Former US Senator George Mitchell, who chaired the talks, will be among the guests in Belfast.
The agreement helped bring an end to 30 years of sectarian conflict, known as the Troubles. It was ratified in a referendum on both sides of the Irish border in May 1998 and set up a power-sharing assembly to govern Northern Ireland by cross-community consent.

Western Leaders Ponder On Syria Chemical Attack Action
US President Donald Trump has promised a "forceful" response to the alleged chemical attack in Syria, as Western leaders consider what action to take.
"We have a lot of options militarily," he told reporters. He added that a response would be decided "shortly". Mr Trump said the US was getting some "good clarity" on who was responsible for the incident in Douma on Saturday.
Medical sources say dozens were killed in the alleged attack but exact numbers are impossible to verify.

Mans Dies After Being Shot By Police In East London
A man believed to be in his 40s has been shot dead by police in Romford, east London, Metropolitan Police say.
The victim was said to be making threats in the Collier Row area, claiming he had a gun. The Met said he was shot by officers at about 04:45 BST and was pronounced dead at 05:17.
The shooting has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as well as to the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards.

Police In Berlin Foil Knife Attack
Berlin police have arrested six people who they suspect of "preparing a grave city-endangering violent act".
The arrests, of people aged between 18 and 21, came amid German media reports of a knife attack being foiled against Sunday's half-marathon in the city.
A police spokesman said on Sunday there was no conclusive evidence the run had been the target of the alleged plot. Police say a number of searches have been made, with some electronics seized for further examination.

Wave Of Violence In London Continues As Seven More Stabbed
Seven more people have been injured in stabbings in London as the spate of violent crime in the capital continues.
A boy aged 13 was seriously hurt in an attack in Newham, east London, and another in his late teens suffered stab wounds in Ealing, west London.
Two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old were hurt in Mile End and another 15-year-old was stabbed in Poplar.
A man, in his 40s, was stabbed in Herne Hill, south-east London, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
