Cause Of Fire At Iran Nuclear Facility Could Be Cyber-Attack
A fire that broke out on Thursday at a key Iranian nuclear facility has caused "significant damage", a spokesman for Iran's nuclear energy body has said.
He said the cause of the blaze at the Natanz enrichment site had been determined, but gave no details. The spokesman added that the destroyed machinery would eventually be replaced by more advanced equipment.
The fire hit a centrifuge assembly workshop. Some Iranian officials have blamed possible cyber-sabotage. Centrifuges are needed to produce enriched uranium, which can be used to make reactor fuel but also nuclear weapons.

France Pulls Out Of Nato Operation Over Turkey Tensions
France has temporarily pulled out of a Nato security operation amid a major row with Turkey.
The defence ministry said France had suspended its role in Operation Sea Guardian, accusing Turkey of violating an arms embargo against Libya. It comes weeks after Turkish ships allegedly targeted a French warship in the Mediterranean - something Ankara strongly denies.

Appeal To UN Security Council To Extend Arms Embargo On Iran
The US and Saudi governments have made a joint public appeal to the UN Security Council to extend the 13-year old arms embargo on Iran or risk a renewed arms race in the Middle East.
"Iran has not earned the trust to have the embargo lifted... The last thing this region needs is more Iranian weapons," said Brian Hook, President Donald Trump's special representative on Iran during a joint press conference in Saudi Arabia. Mr Hook stood alongside Adel Jubeir, Saudi Arabia's minister of state for foreign affairs.

China Passes Hong Kong Security Law
The UK, EU and Nato have expressed concern and anger after China passed a controversial security law giving it new powers over Hong Kong.
President Xi Jinping signed the law and it is being placed in Hong Kong's mini-constitution, criminalising sedition and effectively curtailing protests.

China To Train Army Martial Arts
China has said it is moving 20 martial art trainers to the Tibetan plateau to train its forces.
No official reason for the decision has been given, but it comes after at least 20 Indian troops were killed in clashes with Chinese border forces. Under an agreement dating back to 1996, neither side carries guns or explosives in the area. China has not released any information about its casualties, while India says 76 of its soldiers were injured.

Gunmen Attack Pakistan Stock Exchange
Four gunmen attacked the Pakistani stock exchange in Karachi, killing two guards and a policeman and wounding seven others before being shot dead.
The assailants launched a grenade attack at the main gate to the building and opened fire but police say they failed to make it to the trading floor. Staff inside took refuge in locked rooms and many were evacuated. Security forces are searching the area. Militants from the Baloch Liberation Army say they were behind the attack.

Knifeman Kills Three At Glasgow Hotel
Three people are believed to have been stabbed to death in a stairwell to a hotel in Glasgow city centre.
It is understood that a suspect was shot dead by police. The Scottish Police Federation have confirmed a police officer was stabbed. Armed police remain at the scene outside the Park Inn in West George Street.

Met Police Attacked After Second Night Of Violence
Police officers have been attacked while attempting to disperse crowds at an illegal party for the second night in a row.
The Met Police said objects were thrown at officers at an "unlicensed music event" in Notting Hill, west London, in the early hours of Friday. A witness said there were "about 150-200 people" present with violence breaking out from about midnight. Commissioner Cressida Dick condemned the "utterly unacceptable" behaviour. It comes after "appalling scenes" of violence at a street party on Wednesday.

Fifteen Police Officers Injured At Illegal Street Party In Brixton
Police officers have been injured and their vehicles damaged during clashes with a large crowd at an illegal street party in south-east London.
Police were called following complaints from residents about noise and violence near Angel Town in Brixton on Wednesday night. Fifteen officers were injured, leaving two needing hospital treatment, as they broke up the "unlicensed music event".
Four people were arrested for assault and public order offences.
