Police Van Transporting Prisoners Crashes Injuring Officers
Three police officers have been taken to hospital after a van they were carrying a prisoner in crashed with a car.
The police carrier collided with a Range Rover at the junction of Great Homer Street and Wilbraham Street in Liverpool at about 10:10 BST.
Merseyside Police said the condition of the officers was "unknown" but the prisoner suffered minor injuries.
The Range Rover's occupants are also believed to have minor injuries.

Iran Sentences Alleged UK Spy
Iran has sentenced two men to 10 years in jail for allegedly spying for foreign governments, the judiciary says.
Massud Mossaheb was convicted of spying for Israeli and German intelligence over his senior role in the Austrian-Iranian Society. The other man, Shahram Shirkhani, was accused of working for UK intelligence.
Five other Iranians have been arrested on charges of espionage in recent months, a spokesman said.

President Trump Moved To Safety After Man Shot By Secret Service
US President Donald Trump was escorted out of a news conference after Secret Service agents shot and wounded a man who claimed to be armed outside the White House.
The Secret Service said the incident happened one block from the compound, when an officer fired on the suspect who had run "aggressively" towards him.
An agent then walked on stage as Mr Trump was speaking and led him away. The president returned minutes later to say the situation was under control.

Bomb Squad Attend Norfolk Car Park After Device Found
An "unexploded device" has been found in a beach car park.
Norfolk Police was called to Horsey Gap, between Great Yarmouth and Cromer, at 09:00 BST after the discovery.
Visitors were being asked to avoid the area, the car park remains closed and a police cordon was put in place while the device was "safely contained".

Conspiracy Theories Surge After Beirut Explosion
Early reports of the explosion in Beirut's port began circulating on social media moments after the blast.
Whilst most of the videos appeared authentic, filmed by residents from their homes, rumours about the cause of the blast were also quickly shared on platforms such as Twitter and WhatsApp.
The videos circulating showed smaller explosions and an initial fire followed by the huge blast, which led to tweets suggesting it had happened at a firework factory.

Over Half The City Of Beirut Damaged In Explosion
Rescue workers in Lebanon are searching for more than a hundred people who are missing after a huge explosion devastated the port area of the capital Beirut on Tuesday.
The blast killed at least 100 people and injured more than 4,000 others. The whole city was shaken by the explosion and a mushroom cloud could be seen spreading over the port area.
President Michel Aoun said the blast was caused by 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored unsafely in a warehouse. Ammonium nitrate is used as a fertiliser in agriculture and as an explosive.

12 Year Old Killed During Drive-By Shooting In Sweden
The death of a 12-year-old girl by a stray bullet in Sweden has sparked outrage and reignited debates over its handling of gang-related violence.
The unnamed girl was killed in a drive-by shooting next to a petrol station on Sunday, according to local media. Police have launched an investigation but are yet to make any arrests.

Journalist And Bodyguard Shot Dead In Mexico
A Mexican journalist has been killed by gunmen who stormed the restaurant where he was having dinner in the city of Iguala.
Paulo Morrugares had been assigned a bodyguard after he and his wife survived a similar attack in 2016. His bodyguard was also shot dead.
Mr Morrugares was the editor of PM Noticias, an online publication focusing on crime and police news in central Guerrero state, one of Mexico's most violent areas.

Dozens Killed As IS Attack Afghan Prison
At least 29 people have been killed in a high-profile attack on a central prison in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad which saw more than 1,000 prisoners try to flee.
The attack, claimed by Islamic State (IS), began on Sunday evening when car bombs were detonated at the prison's entrance by gunmen.
Eight of the attackers were killed in a battle lasting almost 20 hours, a Nangarhar province spokesman said. A number of prisoners remain missing.

Case Of IS Bride To Be Heard In The Supreme Court
The case of Syrian runaway Shamima Begum, who is fighting to return to the UK, will go to the Supreme Court.
The Court of Appeal decided that the case raised a point of law of public importance that only the Supreme Court can resolve. Earlier this month, three Court of Appeal judges ruled Ms Begum should be allowed back to London to fight for the return of her citizenship. The government said that decision was deeply flawed.
