A Canadian woman has been charged in US federal court for allegedly posting a letter with deadly ricin poison to President Donald Trump.
Pascale Ferrier, of Quebec, was arrested at a border crossing in Buffalo, New York, on Sunday. Officials say she was carrying a gun. She has pleaded not guilty to making threats against the president.

British Bank Moved Money That Could Have Links To Terror Activities
A British bank moved money that may have been linked to terrorist financing, leaked documents show.
Standard Chartered Bank processed almost $12m (£9.4m) in payments for Jordan's Arab Bank from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, Standard Chartered filed a report alerting authorities to more than 900 transactions that it suspected might have been for "illicit activities under the guise of charity".

Police Investigate Triple Shooting In Coventry
Three men have been shot in what police described as an act of "outrageous violence".
Two of the victims suffered serious injuries in the attack on Far Gosford Street, Coventry, at about 22:15 GMT on Thursday. They were taken to hospital along with a third man, who had more minor injuries.
West Midlands Police said it wanted to hear from anyone who saw a dark-coloured vehicle leaving the scene.
The road has been cordoned off for a forensic examination.

China Begin Military Drills As US Official Visits Taiwan
China says it is conducting military exercises near the Taiwan Strait to "protect its sovereignty" even as a top US official visits Taiwan.
The live-fire drills come amid rising tensions between Beijing and Washington, and as the US moves to shore up its support of the island. China regards self-ruled Taiwan as a breakaway province.
Keith Krach is the highest-level official from the US State Department to visit the island in decades.

Far-Right Police Officers Suspended In Germany After Sharing neo-Nazi Images
Twenty-nine German police officers have been suspended for sharing pictures of Adolf Hitler and depictions of refugees in gas chambers on their phones.
The officers also used far-right chatrooms where swastikas and other Nazi symbols were shared, officials in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) said. NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul said it was a "disgrace for NRW police". It follows several other incidences of far-right extremism among the German security services.

Man Critical After Crossbow Shooting In West London
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being shot with a crossbow on a street in west London.
The 33-year-old was found seriously hurt after emergency services were called to Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, at about 20:00 BST on Monday.
The Met Police said he had suffered an abdominal injury which had been caused by a crossbow arrow and his condition is being treated as life-threatening.

Victoria Police Suspend Officer For Stomping On Man's Head During Arrest
An Australian policeman has been suspended over the arrest of a man who was allegedly hit by a police car and then kicked in the head by an officer.
The man, 32, was put in an induced coma and admitted to intensive care after the arrest in Melbourne on Sunday. His family has called for an independent investigation, after footage of the incident went viral. Victoria Police said an internal unit was investigating.
Melbourne has been under a strict coronavirus lockdown for the past two months.

Two LA Police Officers Shot In Apparent Ambush
Two Los Angeles police officers are recovering in hospital after being shot in what police are calling an ambush.
Video of the incident shows a figure approach the officers' vehicle, before opening fire and running away. Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva called the act "cowardly". The suspect remains at large.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has announced a $100,000 (£78,000) reward for any information leading to the gunman's arrest.
Almost 40 US police officers were killed in the line of duty in 2020, FBI statistics show - eight of them were victims of an ambush.

Vietnam Court Sentences Brothers To Death For Killing Police Officers
A court in Vietnam has sentenced two brothers to death for their role in the killing of three policemen in a notorious land dispute in January.
The other 27 people on trial were given sentences ranging from life imprisonment to 15 months suspended. Le Dinh Cong and his younger brother Le Dinh Chuc helped mastermind resistance against the police, the court ruled. Their father, retired local official Le Dinh Kinh, 84, was shot dead by police who had entered Dong Tam village.

US Announces Thousands Of Troops Will Leave Iraq Within Weeks
The US will withdraw more than a third of its troops from Iraq within weeks, its top Middle East commander has said.
Gen Kenneth McKenzie told reporters the troop presence would be reduced from about 5,200 to 3,000 during September. Those remaining will continue to advise and assist Iraqi security forces in "rooting out the final remnants" of the jihadist group Islamic State (IS).
