Five Suicide Bombers Dead After Attack In The Lebanon
Five suicide bombers have blown themselves up during a raid by Lebanese troops on refugee camps near the Syrian border, Lebanon's army said. Three soldiers were wounded by the blasts, while four others were hurt when an attacker threw a hand grenade, the army said.
It happened during an operation to search for militants and weapons in an area near the town of Arsal. Arsal has often seen violence between troops and Sunni jihadist militants.

Man Arrested In Paris After Failed Attempt To Ram Crowd
A man has been arrested in Paris after trying to drive his vehicle into a crowd outside a mosque, police say. The incident took place at about 18:30 local time (16:30 GMT) in the suburb of Créteil and no-one was hurt.
The man was apparently thwarted by barriers put up to protect the mosque.
The suspect's motives remain unclear but Le Parisien newspaper reported that he was of Armenian origin and had said he wanted to avenge Islamist-linked attacks in Paris.
Europe has seen a number of vehicle attacks in the past year, many by those claiming allegiance to IS.

Supreme Court Attacked In Venezuela
A helicopter has attacked Venezuela's Supreme Court in what President Nicolás Maduro called a "terrorist" incident. Four grenades were dropped on the court and 15 shots fired at the interior ministry on Tuesday, officials said.
Rogue policeman Oscar Pérez said he had piloted the stolen helicopter to attack what he called a "criminal government". His whereabouts are unknown.

Arrests Across Europe For Is Supporters
Four men have been arrested on Majorca and two more in the UK and Germany as part of a Spanish investigation into support for so-called Islamic State, police say. The suspects are said to have produced and spread violent videos to recruit would-be jihadist fighters online.
One was a 44-year-old man from Birmingham, described by Spanish officials as a Salafist imam. He was held in the city's Sparkhill area under a European Arrest Warrant.
West Midlands police said he was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences and would appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later.

IS Destroy Famous Mosque In Battle For Mosul
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi says the destruction of an ancient mosque in the city of Mosul is "an official declaration of defeat" by so-called Islamic State (IS).
Iraqi forces say IS blew up the Great Mosque of al-Nuri and its famous leaning minaret as jihadists battled to stop advancing pro-government troops.
IS said American aircraft had destroyed the complex, a claim denied by the US. Aerial photographs show the complex largely destroyed.

Shots Fired Outside Birmingham School
A primary school was put on "lockdown" after shots were fired outside and a man ran into the building for shelter. The two shots were fired from a car at the man, who was on a bicycle outside St Edmund's RC Primary School and Nursery in Springhill, Birmingham, said West Midlands Police.
The man later fled, said police.

A police officer is in hospital recovering after he was stabbed in the back and neck at an airport in Michigan, police say.
A suspect is in custody after Wednesday morning's attack at Bishop International Airport in Flint.
The FBI, which is leading the investigation, said it cannot rule out terrorism as a motive.

Moroccan Identified As Brussels Bomber
A man suspected of setting off a bomb at Brussels Central Station on Tuesday has been identified as a 36-year-old Moroccan from a city district that has spawned a number of jihadist attackers.
The suspect came from Molenbeek and was carrying a bomb armed with nails and gas canisters, officials said. He was shot and later died after the explosion, which is being treated as a terrorist attack. He was known to police but had not been linked to terrorism, reports said.
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel told reporters that a "terrorist attack had been averted" at the station.

Vigil Held After Finsbury Road Attack
The head of the Met Police and faith leaders joined a vigil on Monday night after the Finsbury Park terror attack. Commissioner Cressida Dick was among hundreds who took part after a van hit worshippers near the Muslim Welfare House mosque and community centre.
Ramadan prayers took place on Monday after worshippers broke their fast, but leaders said it was quieter than usual.

Syrian Military Jet Shot Down By US Coalition
Russia has warned the US-led coalition fighting in Syria that it will view its aircraft as targets, after a Syrian military plane was shot down.
The coalition said it had shot down the Syrian SU-22 after it bombed US-backed rebels in Raqqa province on Sunday.
Russia, Syria's main ally, said it was also halting communication with the US aimed at preventing air incidents.
