    At least 12 people have been killed, including a police officer, at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

    The shooting began at 23:20 local time on Wednesday about 40 miles (65km) north-west of Los Angeles, police say.

    At least 200 people were reportedly inside the Borderline Bar and Grill, which was hosting a university student night, at the time of the attack. Officials say the suspect, who has not been identified, was found dead inside. They have not yet confirmed any motive for the shooting.

  • Mass Graves Found In Iraq Contain Thousands Of Victims Killed By IS

    More than 200 mass graves containing thousands of bodies have been found in areas of Iraq that were once controlled by the Islamic State (IS) group, a UN investigation has found.

    The graves were found in the north and western governorates of Nineveh, Kirkuk, Salahuddin and Anbar. They could contain as many as 12,000 victims, the UN report said.

    Six people have been arrested in France on suspicion of planning to carry out a "violent" attack on President Emmanuel Macron, officials say.

    The individuals, reported to be five men and a woman, were picked up by the French security services in Brittany, north-east and south-east France.

  • Violent Crime In London Could Take Years To Tackle

    It could take a generation to solve London's violent crime problem, the city's mayor has warned.

    Two teenage boys and two men have been stabbed to death in the city in the last five days, including 15-year-old Jay Hughes.

    Mayor Sadiq Khan said to "really make significant progress can take up to 10 years". Home Office minister Victoria Atkins said combating violence crime "isn't just about police numbers".

  • Fight At Sony Headquarters Leaves Two Men With Stab Wounds

    Two men were stabbed during a fight between kitchen workers at Sony Music's headquarters in central London.

    Firearms officers and paramedics were called to the building in Derry Street, Kensington at about 11:00 GMT.

    One member of Sony staff said the catering workers had been "running around chasing each other." Both were later arrested by police. The Met said there was no evidence of any firearms involved and it was not being treated as terror related.

  • National Crime Agency Report On Organised Crime Threat

    The threat posed by organised crime in the UK is now greater than terrorism, the National Crime Agency has said.

    Its latest report said there were 4,600 serious and organised crime groups, committing offences including child abuse, trafficking and drug dealing.

    Director general Lynne Owens said that crime cost the economy £37bn a year.

    Security Minister Ben Wallace said he wanted to target groups - such as accountants and estate agents - who launder money for the criminals.

    A 17-year-old has died of his wounds after detonating explosives in an office of Russia's FSB federal security service in the north-western city of Arkhangelsk, officials say.

    Three FSB employees were hurt when the explosives went off just inside the building at around 09:00 (06:00 GMT). The blast caused serious damage.

    A CCTV image of the suspect emerged soon afterwards, along with a message he allegedly posted on social media just before the blast.

    Turkey has given its first official statement on how it believes writer Jamal Khashoggi was killed, saying he was immediately strangled.

    The statement follows weeks of media reports about the murder at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October. Turkey has yet to provide evidence.

    Chief prosecutor Irfan Fidan said a meeting with his Saudi counterpart on Monday yielded "no concrete results". Saudi Arabia has not commented on the meeting.

  • Nine Hurt After Suicide Bomb Attack In Tunisia

    At least nine people were injured when a woman blew herself up in the centre of Tunisia's capital, Tunis, the interior ministry says.

    Eight of those hurt in the explosion on the Habib Bourguiba avenue, which runs through the middle of the city, were police officers.

    The ministry has described the blast, near the Municipal Theatre, as a "terrorist explosion". No victim deaths have been reported at this stage.
