• Man Dies After Stabbing At London Tube Station

    A man has died and another is in hospital following a stabbing at a Tube station.

    Police were called to Elephant and Castle station at about 23:30 BST on Sunday and found two men with stab wounds in a street nearby. A 24-year-old man died on Monday and a 25-year-old is in a serious condition.

    British Transport Police said it was "a shocking act of violence" and two men had been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. Officers said they believed the stabbing happened during a fight between two groups of men and added they were treating the death as murder.

    A team of French police dubbed "cybergendarmes" has destroyed a virus that infected more than 850,000 computers worldwide, authorities say.

    The network of infected computers, known as a botnet, was controlled from France and is thought to have made millions of euros from fraud. After a tip-off, the French team located and dismantled the pirate server in the Paris region. Then they succeeded in disinfecting the computers around the globe.

    California police say a hotel worker may have prevented a mass shooting after the worker reported that a disgruntled colleague had threatened to shoot staff and guests.

    Acting on the tip-off, officers arrested a 37-year-old man who was found to have high-powered weapons and ammunition at his Los Angeles home. It comes amid a wider FBI effort to prevent such shootings. That followed attacks in El Paso and Dayton that killed 31 people.

    Since then US authorities say they have foiled a series of alleged plots to carry out attacks, some of which would have targeted minority groups.

    The US has tested a medium-range cruise missile weeks after pulling out of a key treaty with Russia that banned such nuclear-capable weapons.

    The Pentagon said it successfully launched the missile off the coast of California on Sunday.

    Moscow accused the US of "escalating military tensions".

  • Twenty Year Old Charged With Police Officer Murder

    A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a police officer who was killed while investigating a burglary.

    Jed Foster, 20, appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of 28-year-old PC Andrew Harper, and the theft of a quad bike.

    PC Harper, of Thames Valley Police, died on Thursday after being dragged along the road by a vehicle in Sulhamstead, Berkshire. Mr Foster has been remanded to appear at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday.

    Robert Jacques, defending, said Mr Foster, of Pingewood in Burghfield near Reading, denied any involvement in PC Harper's death.

    A senior police officer has appealed for political progress in Northern Ireland after a bomb attack in County Fermanagh.

    Police blamed dissident republicans for the explosion near Wattlebridge, close to the Irish border, on Monday.

    PSNI Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Martin said it was a "reckless and indiscriminate" attempt to kill police officers. Northern Ireland has been without a devolved government since January 2017.

    PC Andrew Harper, 28, who got married four weeks ago, died at about 23:30 BST on Thursday in Berkshire.

    Thames Valley Police said 10 males, aged between 13 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody at various stations.

    Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the officer's death was a "mindless and brutal crime".
