27 Militants Killed By Turkish Air Strikes
The Turkish army and US-led coalition forces are reported to have attacked Islamic State (IS) targets in northern Syria, killing 27 militants.
Military sources quoted in Turkish state-run media said the air and artillery strikes took place on Sunday within 10km (six miles) of the border. They said the militants were killed as they prepared to fire rockets.
On Monday, Turkey reportedly detained seven suspected IS members including one described as an IS "executioner". The suspects were held in raids in the Elazig area of eastern Turkey, state-run Anatolia news agency reported.

Syria Top Military Commander Killed By Jihadists
Hezbollah's top military commander in Syria, Mustafa Amine Badreddine, was killed in artillery fire by jihadists, the Lebanese group says.
Badreddine's death near Damascus airport was announced on Friday and initially blamed on Israel, Hezbollah's chief enemy. Badreddine was believed to have run all Hezbollah's military operations in Syria since 2011.

UN Security Council Troubled By Boko Haram Links To IS
The UN Security Council has said it is alarmed by ties between Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamist militants and the Islamic State (IS) group.
In a statement, it said Boko Haram - which pledged allegiance to IS in 2015 - continued to "undermine the peace and stability" in West and Central Africa.

Army Bases Attacked By IS In Yemen
At least 10 soldiers have been killed in three attacks on army bases in the southern Yemen city of Mukalla, military sources say.
The so-called Islamic State (IS) said it was behind at least one of the attacks, a suicide car bombing. Mukalla was held by al-Qaeda militants up until a month ago, when it was recaptured by pro-government forces.
The attacks came hours before Yemen PM Ahmed Obeid bin Dagher was due to arrive in Mukalla for a visit.

Missile Defence Station Opened By US In Romania
The US has activated a land-based missile defence station in Romania, which will form part of a larger and controversial European shield.
Senior US and Nato officials are attending the ceremony in Deveselu, southern Romania.
The US says the Aegis system is a shield to protect Nato from short and medium-range missiles, particularly from the Middle East. But Russia sees it as a security threat - a claim denied by Nato. Deadly Car Bombs In Iraq Kill Dozens Of People
Two car bomb blasts are reported to have rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, just hours after an attack on a market left 64 people dead.
Police sources told the Reuters news agency that at least 15 people had been killed in the northern Kadhimiya area and seven others in the city's west.
A car bomb was also used in the earlier attack at the crowded market in the mainly Shia district of Sadr City. The Sunni jihadist group Islamic State (IS) claimed it was responsible.

PM's Comments On Corrupt Countries Overheard
David Cameron has described Nigeria and Afghanistan as "fantastically corrupt" in a conversation with the Queen.
The PM was talking about the forthcoming anti-corruption summit when he made the comments. "We've got some leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain... Nigeria and Afghanistan, possibly the two most corrupt countries in the world," Mr Cameron said.
Number 10 said the PM was aware he was being filmed as he was speaking. "The cameras were very close to him. There were multiple cameras in the room," a Downing Street spokesman said.

Police Apologise For Using Muslim Phrase In Mock Attack
Police who staged a mock attack featuring a bomber shouting "Allahu Akbar" have been forced to apologise for racial stereotyping.
The exercise - criticised for using a fake "Muslim terrorist" - was to test the response of emergency services. Eight hundred volunteers took part in the overnight drill to make it as realistic as possible. Greater Manchester Police said the event at the Trafford Centre was not linked to any specific terror threat.

Major Leader Of IS Killed In US Air Strike
A key leader of so-called Islamic State (IS) in Iraq's Anbar province has been killed in a US-led coalition air strike, the Pentagon says.
Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said Abu Waheeb and three others died when their vehicle was hit on 6 May near Rutba. "It is dangerous to be an Isil leader in Iraq and Syria nowadays," Mr Cook added, using an acronym based on the former name of IS.
Abu Waheeb has falsely been declared dead on several previous occasions. The Pentagon described Abu Waheeb, who is also known as Shakir Waheeb, as the IS "military emir for Anbar".

WW2 Parade In Russia Shows New Arms
Russian armed forces have paraded in central Moscow to mark the 71st anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two.
Some of Russia's latest military hardware was on show, including the RS-24 Yars long-range nuclear missile.
Fighters, heavy bombers and helicopters flew over Red Square, including types combat-tested in Syria, where Russian aircraft are helping government forces. The march past included Russia's new National Guard.
