Charges For Man Who Used Drones To Smuggle Drugs Into Prison
A man has been charged with using drones to smuggle cannabis, steroids and mobile phones into prison.
Michael Tovey, 27, formerly of Lakes Road, Erdington, Birmingham is accused of using two drones to fly contraband into HMP Birmingham last year.
In the first charges of their type brought by West Midlands Police, Mr Tovey faces 13 counts of conveying banned items into a prison. He is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 7 June.

Anti-Terrorism Raids Carried Out In Germany
German police have carried out anti-terrorism raids in four states, targeting suspected members and supporters of so-called Islamic State.
Homes and properties were searched in Bavaria, Berlin, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt during the pre-dawn operation, federal prosecutors say.
Police were looking for three suspects - two of them are believed to be IS members and the third a supporter of the jihadist group. No arrests have been made.
After suffering a series of deadly attacks last year, Germany has been in fear of further violence.

President Trump Sacks FBI Director
US President Donald Trump has fired the director of the FBI over his handling of the inquiry into Hillary Clinton's emails, the administration says.
The White House shocked Washington by announcing that James Comey "has been terminated and removed from office". But Democrats said he was fired because the FBI was investigating alleged links between the Trump campaign and Russia.
The move came as it emerged Mr Comey gave inaccurate information to Congress last week about Mrs Clinton's emails.

Train Station In Paris Opens After Security Alert
The Gare du Nord train station in the French capital Paris has reopened after a security alert, officials say.
Platforms were evacuated and the area cordoned off by heavily armed police late on Monday evening. No details have been given about the operation in one of Europe's busiest transport hubs. But local media report that police were looking for three suspects.
France is under a state of emergency since the Paris attacks of 2015.
Security had been stepped up across the country for the second round of the presidential election, which happened on Sunday.

Annual WW2 Victory Parade Takes Place In Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised the sacrifices of the Soviet people in World War Two, addressing the armed forces in Moscow.
The giant, annual Victory Day parade for the first time included missiles adapted for Arctic warfare.
Russia is developing new Arctic bases. "No force will be able to dominate our people," Mr Putin said, deploring the havoc that Nazi Germany wreaked in the war. The USSR lost more than 20 million people - more than any other country.
The Soviet Union (USSR) ceased to exist in 1991.

Head Of IS In Afghanistan Killed In Military Strike
The head of so-called Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan, Abdul Hasib, has been killed in a military raid, US and Afghan officials have said.
He died 10 days ago in an joint special forces operation in eastern Nangarhar province, the US military said.
Hasib is believed to have been behind March's attack on a military hospital in Kabul, killing at least 50 people. Last month, the Pentagon said Hasib had probably been killed in a raid by US and Afghan special forces.

Ninth Fatal Stabbing In London So Far This Year
A teenager has died after he was stabbed in north-east London.
Paramedics found the 17-year-old was found when they were called to High Street, Walthamstow, shortly after 23:30 BST on Sunday.
He was taken to hospital but later died - becoming the ninth teenager to be killed in London this year.
The Metropolitan Police said they were awaiting formal identification, but next of kin has been informed. No arrests have been made.

Swiss Spy Worked Inside German Government Office
German investigators suspect that a mole spied for Swiss intelligence from inside a government office which was trying to catch German tax dodgers.
The allegations are part of the case against an alleged Swiss spy arrested in a Frankfurt hotel on Friday, German media report. He is suspected of monitoring German tax investigators.
Switzerland objects to the practice of buying data stolen from Swiss banks.
The mole allegedly spied inside North Rhine-Westphalia's finance ministry.

Security Forces In Mogadishu Kill Government Minister By Mistake
Somalia's security forces have shot dead a 31-year-old government minister after mistaking him for a militant Islamist, officials have said.
He was killed in his vehicle near the presidential palace in the capital, Mogadishu, the officials added.
The president has cut short his visit to Ethiopia following Abdullahi Sheikh Abas' killing, state radio reports.
He grew up in a refugee camp, and became Somalia's youngest MP in November and a minister in February.

Suicide Bomber Targets Nato Convoy In Kabul
A suicide attack on a convoy belonging to the Nato mission in Afghanistan has killed at least eight people in Kabul, officials say.
The victims were all civilians, a government spokesman said. About 25 other people were injured, including three US service members. The attack on the group of military vehicles happened next to the US embassy during the morning rush hour.
So-called Islamic State (IS) said it was behind the attack. The group has been in Afghanistan since 2015 and has claimed several attacks in the country recently.
