The Thai charge d'affaires has been summoned to the UK Foreign Office over concerns about the inquiry into the murders of two British tourists.

Hannah Witheridge, 23, and 24-year-old David Miller were killed in an attack on the island of Koh Tao last month.

Foreign Office minister Hugo Swire told the diplomat there was "concern" about how the investigation had been handled.

Two Burmese workers are said to have confessed to killing the pair, who were discovered on a beach on 15 September.

Police in Thailand have denied subsequent reports that the two men had withdrawn their confessions.

New rules are to be introduced on the size of oil workers travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter.

Passengers with a shoulder width of 22 inches or more will be classed as "extra broad" and will have to sit next to a similarly large helicopter window.

It follows a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) review of helicopter safety.

Concerns were raised about larger passengers being able to escape from a crashed aircraft quickly.

The changes come after a study revealed the average oil worker had risen in weight by close to 20% over the past 30 years.

The US is planning measures to screen incoming air passengers for Ebola, President Barack Obama has said.

The likelihood of an Ebola outbreak in the US is "extremely low", Mr Obama said, but "we don't have a lot of margin of error".

Mr Obama's comments came six days after a Liberian man became the first case of Ebola diagnosed on American soil.

Thomas Eric Duncan, who contracted the disease in Liberia, is in a critical condition in a hospital isolation unit in Dallas.

It should be "negotiated in accordance with international law", he said.

Sweden last month voted out the centre-right Alliance coalition of Fredrik Reinfeldt after eight years.

That allowed the Social Democrats led by Mr Lofven to form a government with other parties on the left including the Greens.
