UK's Most Wanted Man Appears In Romanian Court

One of the UK's "most wanted" suspects has appeared in court in Romania following his arrest two days ago.

Shane O'Brien, 31, who is wanted for questioning about the death of Josh Hanson in London in 2015, was arrested in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania. He was remanded for 15 days at the town's Court of Appeal on Sunday for legal processes to begin to bring him back to the UK, the Met said.

The National Crime Agency tweeted a video clip of him being arrested.

Whitehall Bunker Prepared To Deal With No-Deal Brexit

The Ministry of Defence has set up an operations room in a bunker at its main Whitehall building to deal with a potential no-deal Brexit.

The preparations are being run under the banner of Operation Redfold - although officials stress they are part of wider cross-government planning. An MoD spokesman said it was "always willing to support wider government planning for any scenario".

Defence chiefs had previously said 3,500 troops were being readied.

Community Patrol In North London Set Up By Parents

Parents are taking action against crime in Enfield by setting up community patrols in parts of the north London borough.

Volunteers say police services are stretched and they believe patrols are the only way to prevent young people from being targeted.

Bus Attack Children Saved By Classmate

One of the children caught up in an attack on a school bus in Italy is being hailed by his classmates for saving everyone on board.

The bus driver allegedly hijacked the vehicle and its 51 schoolchildren near Milan, then set it on fire.

Children interviewed by Italian media said 13-year-old Ramy Shehata hid his mobile phone when the driver confiscated them from other students. The police were then phoned. "He is our hero", one classmate said.

The driver, named as 47-year-old Ousseynou Sy, allegedly told the children: "No-one will survive."

Trial Continues Over Vicious Murder By Moped Gang

A teenager was chased and stabbed to death by a moped gang in a "terrifying and vicious attack", a court heard.

Jason Isaacs was walking with friends to a house in Northolt, west London, when he was targeted by four people on two mopeds on 18 November 2017. The 18-year-old ran but became separated from his group and was stabbed in the back, arm and legs.

Joel Amade, of Ilford, and Kaleel Nyeila, of Greenford both 18, both deny murder at the Old Bailey.

Mr Isaacs collapsed in a nearby front garden and died in hospital three days later.

Fake Bomber Jailed For Two Years

A man who robbed a bank using a bogus bomb made from a box of tissues, black fabric and a television remote control has been jailed.

Ion Craciunescu, 64, pleaded guilty to robbing the Co-operative Bank in Alma Street, Luton, on 7 December.

Bedfordshire Police said he threatened "terrified" staff and told them he would detonate the bomb if his demands were not met. He was jailed for two years at Luton Crown Court.

Gun Reforms For New Zealand After Terror Attack

New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern has said she will announce detailed gun law reforms within days, after an attack on two mosques left 50 people dead.

Ms Ardern said her cabinet had backed gun law changes "in principle".

Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, a self-described white supremacist, has been charged with murder. Police say the killer used military-style assault weapons modified to make them more deadly for the attack - all of which is legal under current laws.

Dutch Tram Shooting Leaves One Dead

A gunman has opened fire inside a tram in the Dutch city of Utrecht, killing one person and injuring several others, reports say.

The area in the west of the city has been cordoned off by authorities, and emergency services are at the scene.

Authorities said the gunman is still at large. Police have asked people to stay away from the area and schools to keep their doors closed. They say they are investigating a "possible terrorist motive".

Multiple Casualties In Christchurch Shootings

Forty-nine people have been killed and at least 20 wounded in shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison described one alleged gunman, who had Australian citizenship, as an "extremist, right-wing" terrorist. A man in his late twenties was charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday morning, police confirmed.

Soldier To Face Murder Charges Over Bloody Sunday Killings

A former British soldier faces murder charges over the killing of two people on Bloody Sunday in Londonderry in 1972.

The Public Prosecution Service said there was enough evidence to prosecute Soldier F for the murders of James Wray and William McKinney. He also faces charges for the attempted murders of Patrick O'Donnell, Joseph Friel, Joe Mahon and Michael Quinn.
