Indian Cargo ship Hijacked By Somali Pirates
Somali pirates have hijacked an Indian cargo ship off the coast of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, officials there say.
One source said the vessel was heading towards Somali shores. There were no details of the crew or destination.
Some two weeks earlier an oil tanker en route to Mogadishu was seized by pirates who then released the boat apparently without conditions. That incident was the first hijack off the Somali coast since 2012.

British Man Accused Of Hacking Would Work With US Intelligence
A hacking suspect facing extradition to the US said he "would want to work" with its intelligence agencies to highlight system "vulnerabilities".
Lauri Love, 31, who has Asperger's syndrome, is appealing against an extradition order signed last year by the home secretary.
Mr Love, from Stradishall, Suffolk, faces trial accused of hacking into the FBI, the US central bank and Nasa. An appeal against his extradition is expected to be heard at the High Court.

Three Jihadists Arrested In Venice
Three adults and a girl have been detained in the centre of Venice as suspects in an alleged jihadist cell.
Police had been monitoring the group from Kosovo for months amid concerns they were planning to join Islamist militants in Syria, reports said. But police moved in at dawn on Thursday amid fears of a potential attack in the wake of the last week's murder of four people in London, reports said.
Twelve addresses were raided including 10 in the city's historic centre.

Judge Indefinitely Extends Trump's Travel Ban Suspension
A US federal judge in Hawaii has indefinitely extended the suspension of President Trump's new travel ban.
Judge Derrick Watson's ruling means Mr Trump will be barred from enforcing the ban on six mostly Muslim nations while it is contested in court.
In a lawsuit, the US state says the ban would harm tourism and the ability to recruit foreign students and workers.
President Trump says his revised travel ban seeks to prevent terrorists from entering the United States.

Counter-Terrorism Police Arrest Suspects In Birmingham
Armed anti-terror police have grabbed two people from a car in a busy Birmingham street.
A man and woman, aged 21 and 23, were plucked from a red Ford Fiesta in Alum Rock Road. They have been detained on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts.
Five homes and a business were searched in the city as part of the planned operation, West Midlands Police said. The arrests are unrelated to last week's attack in Westminster.

Bodies Of UN Experts Discovered In DR Congo
Two UN experts who were missing in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been found dead, officials say.
The bodies of US citizen Michael Sharp and Swedish national Zaida Catalan were discovered in the central Kasai region, a government spokesman said.
They were abducted two weeks ago after going to Kasai to investigate reports of abuses after local rebels took up arms.
Some 40 police officers were found beheaded in the region at the weekend. Congolese government spokesman Lambert Mende confirmed reports of the discovery.

Three French Police Officers Injured After Demonstration Turns Violent
Violence in Paris over the police killing of a Chinese man has left three police officers injured with at least 35 people detained.
Demonstrators had gathered outside a police station on Monday to pay homage to the dead man. His family denies he attacked an officer with scissors as they responded to reports of a domestic dispute.
A French inquiry is under way. China has made a complaint and is calling for its nationals to be protected.
Father-of-five Liu Shaoyo, who was 56, was shot dead on Sunday night in Paris's 19th arrondissement (district).

Marine's Sentence Cut For Shooting Dead A Taliban Fighter
Royal Marine Alexander Blackman has "always regretted his actions" in shooting dead a wounded Taliban fighter in Afghanistan, his wife has said.
Claire Blackman, of Taunton, Somerset, said that if her husband could turn back the clock and change events of 2011, "he would do in a heartbeat".
The marine's sentence has been cut to seven years after his murder conviction was reduced to manslaughter. From jail, he told the Daily Mail he felt a "profound sense of relief".

A US-backed force of Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighters has taken control of an Islamic State-held airbase west of the jihadist group's stronghold of Raqqa.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and a monitoring group said Tabqa airbase had fallen on Sunday evening.
