Russia Claims US Troops In Poland Is A Threat
Russia says it views the arrival of more than 3,000 US soldiers in Poland as a threat to its own security.
The troops are part of President Barack Obama's response to reassure Nato allies concerned about a more aggressive Russia. It is the largest US military reinforcement of Europe in decades.
President Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the move "threatens our interests and our security". "It's a third country that is building up its military presence on our borders in Europe," he said. "It isn't even a European country."

EX-M16 Officer In Hiding After Trump Claims
An ex-MI6 officer who is believed to have prepared a memo claiming Russia has compromising material on US President-elect Donald Trump is now in hiding.
Christopher Steele, who runs a London-based intelligence firm, is believed to have left his home this week. The memos contain unsubstantiated claims that Russian security officials have compromising material on Mr Trump.
The US president-elect said the claims were "fake news" and "phoney stuff".

Amnesty Int. Reports That Two Human Rights Activists' Have Been Arrested In Saudi
The authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested two human rights activists so far this year, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International say.
Essam Koshak and Ahmed al-Musheikhis were summoned for questioning by police in Mecca and Qatif last week.
Officials have not disclosed the reasons for the detentions. But HRW said they "fit a pattern of ongoing repression" against peaceful advocates and dissidents, at least 25 of whom have been convicted since 2011.

Five Shot Dead In Iran After Gunman Goes On The Rampage
A man has shot dead at least five people and wounded four others in Iran in an apparent act of revenge.
The 26 year old opened fire at two houses in the central city of Arak.
The Isna news agency cited a local prosecutor as saying the man was a murder suspect on bail and that he first targeted the family of a police officer who had arrested him last year. The man then went to the home of the person he was accused of murdering and shot his parents, the prosecutor added.

Latest On Russian Involvement In Presidential Election
US President-elect Donald Trump has reacted furiously to allegations that Russia has compromising material on him, saying Moscow has "never tried to use leverage on me".
Mr Trump condemned US intelligence agencies for allowing "fake news" to "leak" into the public, asking: "Are we living in Nazi Germany?"
The claims say his election campaign communicated with Moscow and also contain suggestions of prostitute use. Russia also angrily denied the claims. Dmitry Peskov, President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, said the allegations were "pulp fiction" and a "clear attempt to damage relations".

Many Dead & Wounded After Bomb Attack In Kabul
At least 22 people have been killed and 70 wounded in twin bombings near the Afghan parliament in Kabul, officials say.
The attack took place during rush hour, as staff were leaving the parliament complex. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombings.
Most of the victims are said to be civilians, including parliament employees. Reports speak of a suicide bomber and a car bomb.
Waheed Majroh, an Afghan health ministry official, said wounded people were taken to Istiqlal and Emergency hospitals. Initial reports suggest the attack is the bloodiest to strike Kabul for several months.

US Launch 103 Swarming Drones During Test
The US military has launched 103 miniature swarming drones from a fighter jet during a test in California.
Three F/A-18 Super Hornets were used to release the Perdix drones last October. The drones, which have a wingspan of 12in (30cm), operate autonomously and share a distributed brain.
A military analyst said the devices, able to dodge air defence systems, were likely to be used for surveillance.

Suicide Bomb Attack In Egypt Kills Eight
At least eight people have been killed in a suicide bomb attack on a police station in North Sinai, Egypt.
Reports say the bomber rammed the building in el-Arish with a lorry filled with explosives. Militants then opened fire on the station.
No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, but the area is often targeted by Islamists that have links with the so-called Islamic State (IS) group.

Israel's Prime Minister Claims Lorry Attacker Supported IS
Israel's prime minister has said "all the signs" are that a man who killed four soldiers in Jerusalem supported so-called Islamic State (IS).
Although Benjamin Netanyahu did not give evidence for the claim, IS has previously threatened to attack Israel. The Palestinian, who was shot dead, drove a lorry into a group of soldiers in the district of Armon Hanatziv.
An emergency meeting of the Israeli security cabinet approved detention without trial for IS sympathisers.

Arrests Made In Paris Over Kardashian Robbery
Seventeen people have been arrested by police hunting an armed gang who robbed Kim Kardashian West in Paris in October, reports say.
The suspects, said to be mainly in their fifties and known to police, were detained in co-ordinated raids in the Paris region and elsewhere.
The American reality TV star was held at gunpoint by men dressed as police officers. They escaped with an estimated €10m (£8.7m; $10.5m) in jewellery.
