Undercover FBI Agent Reveals Details Of IS Extremists

An active FBI undercover agent has revealed details of his work infiltrating Islamic extremist groups.

Tamer El-Noury – one of the agent’s many false identities – talked about his covert attempts to gain the trust of those planning attacks. He was instrumental in foiling the plot to derail the New York City to Toronto train route four years ago.

He has published a book about his work, saying he wants Americans to understand his work as a Muslim operative. “The fact is that these jihadists – these radicals that are popping up – are lost souls,” he said in an interview. “They latch on to hatred, and an evil that seems to give them purpose.” “I am a Muslim and I am an American, and I am appalled at what these animals are doing to my country while desecrating my religion,” he said.

The son of Egyptian immigrants to the US, Mr El-Noury joined the police in New Jersey, where he worked to break up drug distribution networks. Later, he was recruited by the FBI who realised they were desperately short of Arabic speakers.

53 Year Old Man Arrested After Bowling Alley Siege

A suspected gunman was arrested after police ended a four-hour siege at a bowling alley in Nuneaton.

Officers were called to MFA Bowl in Bermuda Park at around 14:30 BST on Sunday after reports a man with a shotgun had taken two hostages.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill after police stormed the building at about 18:30 BST. The suspect was treated for minor injuries. Two other men were uninjured.

Ch Supt Alex Franklin-Smith, from Warwickshire Police, said officers brought the incident to “a peaceful resolution”. The siege was “unconnected” to terrorism, he added.

The gunman reportedly walked into MFA Bowl and yelled “game over” before ordering people to get out. About 40 or 50 people were said to be inside the complex at the time. Both of the hostages – a duty manager and a bowling lane host – were unharmed but treated for shock.

North Korea Soon Capable Of Nuclear Missile Launch To US Claims CIA Director

CIA director Mike Pompeo has warned that North Korea is on the cusp of being able to hit the US with a nuclear missile.

He stressed Washington still preferred diplomacy and sanctions but said military force remained an option.

North Korea claims it already has the capability to strike the US.

Mr Pompeo also said that a US-Canadian hostage couple freed last week had in fact been held in Pakistan, rather than Afghanistan as initially assumed. He said Canadian Joshua Boyle and his US wife Caitlan Coleman had been “held for five years inside of Pakistan”.

This contradicted accounts from Pakistani officials, who said the family had been held in Afghanistan, and moved across the border into the Kurram tribal district of Pakistan on 11 October.

Taliban Bombs Military Base In Afghanistan Leaving 43 Dead

At least 43 Afghan soldiers have been killed after two suicide bombers in Humvee trucks targeted a military base in the southern province of Kandahar.

Nine others were wounded and six were missing, the defence ministry said. Ten militants were also said to have died.

The attack, which happened in the Chashmo area of Maiwand district, is the third major assault on Afghan security forces this week.
The Taliban said it was behind the early morning bloodshed.

Two days earlier, suicide bombers and gunmen belonging to the group killed at least 41 people when they stormed a police training centre in the eastern Afghan city of Gardez.

Some 150 people were injured in the violence. The local hospital, in Paktia province, said it was “overwhelmed” and issued an urgent appeal for blood donors. The same day, at least 30 more people died in car bombings in neighbouring Ghazni province. Armoured Humvee vehicles filled with explosives were detonated near the provincial governor’s office, before gunmen moved in.

Afghanistan’s army and police have suffered heavy casualties this year at the hands of the Taliban, who want to re-impose their strict version of Islamic law in the country.

Office For National Statistics Report Increase In Crimes

The number of crimes recorded annually in England and Wales has passed the five million mark for the first time in 10 years, rising by 13%, figures show.

The Office for National Statistics said crimes in the 12 months to June were up from 4.6 million the previous year. It said crime categorised as “violent” rose by 19%, with rises in offences including stalking and harassment.

The Crime Survey for England and Wales, based on people’s experiences, suggests there were 10.8 million offences.

The survey, published on the same day as the official crime statistics, includes crimes that people do not report to police. When comparing like-for-like crimes, the survey reported a 9% reduction compared with the previous year.

The rise in the ONS statistics, which cover the 12 months to the end of June, is the largest annual rise in a decade and continues a recent trend of crime increases.
